I can't the the wTorrent gui to run, but the ruTorrent gui works. I've finally been able to install both but they each have issues. For the past 3 days I've been struggling to install either rTorrent or Transmission. Can anyone direct me to a good source for information about how to go about installing/setting ups either of these alternatives? Do I even need them? Are there any other/better ones? Thanks, TS109's (3.1.0 Build 0708T) I can't even find a QPKG for Transmission. I was able to find and install rTorrent, but I can't get the thing to work (I think it's because of Port forwarding which I'm having a difficult time with). Is this correct? Is the " Protocol Encryption" setting not the same thing as hiding your IP address? I've seen a lot of users here referring to alternative download managers such as rTorrent and Transmission which seem to let you download anonymously, but there is a lot of confusing information about how to install either of them - specifically on a TS109. From what I've read on this forum my QNAP TS109's (3.1.0 Build 0708T) BT download manager does not allow this. The client by default supports the three priority ratings high, normal and low, which you can increase to 15 with a click on Options > Preferences > UI Settings > Use fine grained file priorities.Hello, I'm very new to Torrent downloading and I'm concerned about privacy - specifically, I'm looking for a way to hide my IP address. You can highlight specific files in a torrent and change their priority. Probably the biggest option that you have at your disposal are only available manually, unfortunately. The Bittorrent client uTorrent offers several configuration options, some automatic, some manual, that you can use to prioritize file downloads in the client. Instead of being left with incomplete files, you would have at least some finished files on your computer. This may be important for accessing as soon as possible, but also if you fear that the original seeder might shut down the seeding. Instead of download files left and right without order, you might want to download files one by one instead so that you have the complete file on your hard drive. You could do that by downloading the beginning of the first file right at the start, to preview the media file that way.Īnother reason for downloading files in priority is if you want to have them available at the very earliest moment. There are however situations where you may want to prioritize files in the program, for instance when you download a media file that you want to preview this way. While that may not be an issue most of the time, especially not if the torrent is well seeded. When you load a torrent with multiple files into the uTorrent Bittorrent client, you will notice that uTorrent by default will not prioritize any file in particular.
